I wanted to give you and update on the spring sports season since we are off to such a slow start. The season started March 19th but the first games were played only last Monday, April 23rd. According to Bob Johnson, Associate Director of the Vermont Principles Association, baseball, softball and lacrosse teams have to play at least 10 games in order to qualify for postseason play that starts on May 29th.
He noted in tennis, that 20 girls teams and 9 boys teams have yet to play their first game of the season. In lacrosse, every division 1 team has played at least one game so far. 26 softball teams and 33 baseball teams were still waiting to play their first game. But there is good news in all of this according to Johnson, there is no problem with golf this year because the VPA has moved it to fall!
