About Me
My name is Jack Clark. I have always had a love for sports, due to the fact that I have grown up watching my siblings play, and always wondered how I could get involved. In 2015, I was fortunate enough to get my first opportunity. That winter, the announcer at the Stowe Arena was resigning, and offered me the position. On January 30th I announced my first game! I was sweating bullets thinking about how much endurance it would take to get through three, twenty-minute periods; especially with all of the penalties that took place. It was a very exciting experience for me.
All of the preparation for my first game was very eye opening for me. First I went to meet the referees, as well as both of the coaches and their teams. I had to write down six names of players from both teams and which positions they played, starting with the goalies. I had to say who was in goal and their number, followed by the center, then the two wings and so on until I got the the defensive players. Then I would announce the team mascots after the last defensive player.
In addition, I created a music list that I would play during the game. My dad and I sat down for a few hours and decided the best music to pick. We decided to play a lot of up beat songs to get the crowd involved. For example, one of the songs that we decided to use was Black Betty.
I am currently enrolled in college and hope to further my knowledge of announcing sporting events. I am studying sports management. I hope you will enjoy my continual sports updates. In addition, I have a half hour sports radio show that airs weekly, on the college radio station on Wednesday mornings at 10:30.
